Process of Exploring Through PaintingZaha Hadid’s paintings are usually acrylic on canvas or cartridge paper. Recently she has begun to use a process of silver painting. Her paintings have transformed over time, from the abstract but simple fluid shapes of Malevich’s Tektonik to the complex detail and contortion of shape, space, and color in more recent works. Hadid has said that her painting style has been influenced by Russian suprematist Kasimir Malevich. She takes vibrant and experimental two dimensional images to the three dimensional realm of architecture. Her paintings and buildings are equally stunning. However, not all of her works have been built, and so we remember some of her awe-inspiring designs through vivacious paintings. - The Pritzker Architecture Prize 2004, Zaha Hadid Monograph (GCCDC Edit) |
